All of the performers in this festival worked regularly with Karlheinz Stockhausen over a long period of time. Alain Louafi began rehearsing and performing INORI in 1974, Nicholas Isherwood started work on LICHT in 1984 and Antonio Perez-Abellán was Stockhausen’s keyboard player and copying starting in 1994. This festival presents a cross section of his work, from the earliest pieces (Gesang der Jünglinge) to pieces composed shortly before he passed away (HAVONA). Movement-based work, electronic music, instrumental music and vocal music are present, as are excerpts from his major cycles, LICHT and KLANG, and electronic music from all of the major periods of his output in this medium. Lively, energetic performances in keeping with Stockhausen’s performance practice are present in every concert. This festival can be performed in 2-5 days.
