Leo Kupper, CD 2013

http://classicalmodernmusic.blogspot.de/2013/07/leo-kupper-digital-voices.html

If the women are, in this case, the mainstays of Kupper’s view on the nature’s (and, in general, the world’s) ascendancy on acoustic imagination, male vocalism is the kernel of his finest work herein. “Lumière Sans Ombre” presents a hybridization of melodic percussion and computer-processed samples of Slavic liturgical chants upon which Nicholas Isherwood’s inspired bass voice depicts mesmerizing figurations in an invented language (the latter trait typifying all the songs in this set; Kupper rightly believes that intelligible words can hamper the “expression of the inexpressible” as they “camouflage the real perception of sonorities”).

Although this is the  jewel of the cd, pinnacles of veritable grace are also found in “Paroles Sur Lèvres” and “Paroles Sur Langue”.Massimo Ricci, December 26, 2012

Grand Macabre, Vienna 2012:
As Mescalina and Astradamors, Annette Schönmüller and Nicholas Isherwood handled Ligeti’s cruel melismas capably,
“Zwölftöner” in Bachtrak

“The British baritone Nicholas Isherwood, who recently gave an inspired performance of Hindemith’s Lehrstück at the Staatsoper in Berlin, was convincing as Astradamors.”
Udo Pacolt, Der Neue Merker, 4.10.2012

(3D Classics, 3D8035)
