NICHOLAS ISHERWOOD Bass Baritone

                                     PROJECTS WITH VISUAL ARTISTS

In the past, musicians, poets, novelists, painters, sculptors and film makers frequently worked together.  For example, Karlheinz Stockhausen was friends with Max Ernst and Marc Chagall.  I always welcome the chance to do projects with visual artists.  Here is a current one:
MASSIMO BARTOLINI  The opening was at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome on November 22nd, 2012.  At the invitation of the curator Anna Cestelli Guidi, Massimo Bartolini and I did a project inspired by Glen Gould that will involve an installation by Massimo, a 33 recording of me recreating and interpreting Glen Gould’s vocalizations while recording Bach’s Goldberg Variations in 1981 and my original composition based on texts from Gould’s project entitled The Idea of North.  There is a limited edition book/cd.
